Turkey lies on the border between Europe and Asia and is characterised by contrasts. The country offers long coastal regions with fantastic beaches and azure sea as well as mountain ranges and rugged hilly landscapes. During your holiday in Turkey you can experience the exciting hustle and bustle of the metropolis Istanbul as well as the traditional and quiet life in the small villages of the country. You will feel one thing everywhere: the hospitality of the Turks. Enjoy a Turkish tea and try one of the many delicacies of Turkish cuisine such as Köfte, Halva and Raki. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the country: Visit for example the excavation sites in and around Side, the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul or Pamukkale with the limestone terraces and the nearby ancient village Hierapolis. In Turkey every holidaymaker will find the right place for a perfect holiday.
Many tourists have already discovered this region for themselves. And you are sure to become a fan! The turquoise green, crystal clear water of the Mediterranean Sea refreshes and encourages to do some water sports. No wonder that paragliding and water skiing are offered everywhere. In the background of the beaches the Taurus rises with partly snow-covered peaks.
Much more than just the sea - the Aegean Turkey
The Turkish Aegean presents itself surprisingly diverse to its visitors. The popular holiday region not only offers crystal-clear water and idyllic harbours. There are also lively cities to discover such as Izmir and colourful bazaars, for example in Marmaris. Highlights of the region are also Pamukkale, the "cotton castle" and historical sites such as the ruins of Ephesus and the archaeological site of Troy.
Turkey's climate is characterised by its location between the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea as well as the Taurus Mountains, which are over 5,000 metres high. Therefore different climate zones can be found in Turkey. Around the Mediterranean region there is a perfect climate for a relaxing bathing holiday.
The Turkish Riviera has a mild, subtropical climate. Summers are hot and dry, winters very mild. In the summer months the thermometer can climb to over 40 degrees, in winter the temperatures are around 15-17 degrees. The best time for your beach holiday in Turkey is May - October. Because then also the water temperatures lie over 20 degrees. But also in winter the Turquoise coast is worth visiting - thanks to mild temperatures. Enjoy a bath in the indoor pool, a relaxing massage in the spa or discover the natural and cultural highlights around your holiday resort. But be prepared for some winter rains.
