  • Don't push yourself too hard, but start with shorter tours.
  • Before setting off, ride your bike a few times to check whether you feel comfortable on it.
  • Make sure you have enough sun protection, even on cloudy days.
  • Pack suitable clothing.
  • Allow yourself breaks - e.g. at the beach or in the wellness area.

FAQ

  • Where can you go on a cycling holiday?

There are plenty of destinations for a cycling holiday: if you want to take your own bike with you, we recommend bike tours in Germany and its neighbouring countries. Whether you choose Denmark, Austria or the Netherlands, our neighbours offer ideal conditions for cyclists and wonderful cycle paths. If you would rather cycle in southern Europe, we recommend renting the equipment locally. Or you could opt for a TUI MAGIC LIFE cycling holiday in Greece or Spain.

  • Cycling holiday – what do you need?

Besides a high-quality bike and comfortable, breathable sports clothing, you will need a lot of accessories for your cycling holiday so that you are prepared for any eventuality. These include, for example, bicycle tools, spare parts and a puncture repair kit. You should also definitely pack a first-aid bag. If you are on a guided tour with a guide, you don't need to worry about such things, as the guide has everything.

  • What exactly is a cycling holiday?

A cycling holiday is generally understood to mean a holiday where a lot of cycling is done. However, this does not necessarily have to be a cycling holiday where you cycle from one place to another. Many hotels and resorts offer you a cycling holiday where you get the equipment provided locally and can explore the area around your resort by bike. At the TUI MAGIC LIFE resorts, you can discover your host country on road or mountain bikes on guided tours.

  • What types of bike are suitable for a cycling holiday?

Which bike is best for your cycling holiday depends on the type of tour: touring bikes are suitable for relaxed routes on well-maintained paths. Road bikes should only be used on asphalted roads and with mountain bikes you can explore rough terrain and conquer peaks. At the TUI MAGIC LIFE resorts, you have the opportunity to ride road and mountain bikes.

  • Cycling holidays: where do I get accommodation?

When you go on a cycling holiday, you have various options for organising your accommodation. If you are taking a cycle tour from one place to another, you should book your accommodation in advance. You can camp, stay in cycle hotels, guest houses or bed and breakfasts.  If you choose a TUI MAGIC LIFE cycle holiday, you don't have to worry about accommodation.

  • How long should a cycle tour take?

That depends entirely on your requirements: as a rule, organised cycling holidays last about a week. But there are also shorter and longer tours – depending on your fitness and destination. Remember that as a beginner you can cover about 20 to 30 kilometres a day. Passionate cyclists, on the other hand, easily cover between 70 and 100 kilometres a day.
Take advantage of the many benefits of a cycling holiday with TUI MAGIC LIFE and experience southern Europe from a completely new perspective!
